Actoid 10mg Capsule

Actoid 10mg Capsule is an oral retinoid medication primarily prescribed for the treatment of severe psoriasis and other disorders involving abnormal keratinization of the skin. It is a second-generation retinoid and a synthetic derivative of vitamin A. Acitretin is especially effective in treating plaque psoriasis, pustular psoriasis, palmoplantar psoriasis, and ichthyosis, where topical therapies have failed or are not sufficient.

Acitretin works by modifying the growth and differentiation of skin cells. In patients with chronic skin conditions like psoriasis, there is an overproduction of keratinocytes (skin cells), leading to thick, scaly patches. Acitretin slows down this excessive cell proliferation and encourages the development of normal skin, thereby reducing inflammation, redness, scaling, and thickening.

Because of its systemic effects and teratogenic potential, Acitretin should only be used under close medical supervision. It is typically prescribed when the risks are justified by the severity of the condition. Female patients of childbearing potential must use effective contraception and follow strict pregnancy prevention protocols during and after treatment.

Actoid 10mg Capsule is usually taken once daily with food or milk, which helps improve absorption. The dosage and duration of treatment are adjusted based on the severity of the condition and patient tolerance.
