Campsate Ds Tablet is a prescription medication indicated for the maintenance of alcohol abstinence in individuals recovering from alcohol dependence. It is most effective when used as part of a comprehensive treatment program that includes psychological counseling and social support.

Acamprosate acts on the brain’s neurotransmitter systems—specifically glutamate and GABA—which are disrupted by long-term alcohol use. During recovery, patients often experience ongoing cravings, restlessness, insomnia, and mood changes due to chemical imbalance. Acamprosate helps restore this balance, reducing the physical and psychological discomfort associated with prolonged abstinence.

Each tablet contains 666 mg of Acamprosate Calcium, allowing for simplified dosing—typically one tablet three times daily. It is non-addictive, well tolerated by most individuals, and has no euphoric or sedative effects, making it safe for long-term use.

Acamprosate is not suitable for treating alcohol withdrawal symptoms during detox. Instead, it is designed for use after detoxification, when the individual has already stopped drinking and is working to remain sober.
