Amoxicillin is a semi-synthetic penicillin antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to the destruction of bacteria. However, certain bacteria produce beta-lactamase enzymes, which can deactivate amoxicillin. To overcome this resistance, Clavulanic Acid, a potent beta-lactamase inhibitor, is added.
