Clavam Xr Tab

Clavam Xr Tab is a broad-spectrum antibiotic combination used to treat a variety of bacterial infections, especially those caused by beta-lactamase-producing organisms. This fixed-dose formulation is part of the penicillin-class antibiotics and offers a targeted approach for eliminating bacteria that are resistant to conventional penicillin therapy.

Amoxicillin, a semi-synthetic penicillin, acts by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, ultimately causing bacterial cell death. However, many bacteria produce beta-lactamase enzymes, which can inactivate amoxicillin. Clavulanic Acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that protects amoxicillin from being destroyed, allowing it to act effectively against resistant bacterial strains.

The Clavam Xr Tab dosage provides a high concentration of amoxicillin for robust bacterial eradication, while maintaining a lower dose of clavulanic acid to reduce the risk of gastrointestinal side effects. This makes it suitable for patients with mild to moderate infections, or those needing high amoxicillin coverage with reduced clavulanate exposure.
