Coversyl Am 8mg/10mg Tablet is a prescription medication used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and reduce the risk of serious cardiovascular conditions such as stroke, heart attack, and heart failure. It is a fixed-dose combination drug that combines two active ingredients: Amlodipine, a calcium channel blocker (CCB), and Perindopril, an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor.

This combination works through two mechanisms. Amlodipine relaxes and widens blood vessels by blocking calcium from entering the walls of the arteries. This lowers blood pressure and improves blood flow. Perindopril inhibits the enzyme responsible for producing angiotensin II, a substance that causes blood vessels to tighten. By reducing angiotensin II levels, Perindopril helps blood vessels remain relaxed and open, which also contributes to lower blood pressure.

Coversyl Am 8mg/10mg Tablet is often prescribed when monotherapy (single-drug treatment) is insufficient to control blood pressure. It is particularly beneficial for patients with moderate to severe hypertension, or those at high cardiovascular risk, such as individuals with diabetes, chronic kidney disease, or a history of heart disease.
