DAPADAX VGM 10/100/1000 mg Tablet is a triple fixed-dose oral antidiabetic combination consisting of:

  • Dapagliflozin (10 mg): An SGLT2 inhibitor that lowers blood glucose by promoting glucose excretion in urine

  • Metformin (1000 mg): A biguanide that reduces hepatic glucose production and improves insulin sensitivity

  • Vildagliptin (100 mg): A DPP-4 inhibitor that enhances insulin secretion and reduces glucagon levels in a glucose-dependent manner

This combination is intended for adults with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) who require multi-drug therapy for adequate glycemic control.

USES

  • Treatment of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in adults

  • Used when diet, exercise, and dual oral therapy do not sufficiently control blood glucose levels

  • May be part of a broader treatment plan including lifestyle changes and/or additional medications

BENEFITS

  • Triple action mechanism targeting different aspects of glucose metabolism:

    • Dapagliflozin: Eliminates excess glucose via urine

    • Metformin: Suppresses liver glucose production and enhances insulin sensitivity

    • Vildagliptin: Increases insulin release and lowers glucagon after meals

  • Weight loss or weight neutral effect

  • Low hypoglycemia risk (when not used with insulin or sulfonylureas)

  • Potential cardiovascular and renal benefits (mainly due to dapagliflozin)

  • Once/twice-daily fixed-dose combination improves adherence and convenience

SIDE EFFECTS

Common Side Effects:

  • Increased urination

  • Genital infections (e.g., fungal)

  • Urinary tract infections

  • Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea (mainly due to Metformin)

  • Headache

  • Cold-like symptoms (nasopharyngitis)

Less Common / Serious Side Effects:

  • Lactic acidosis (rare but serious; linked to Metformin in renal/hepatic impairment)

  • Diabetic ketoacidosis (rare; associated with dapagliflozin)

  • Pancreatitis (rare; associated with DPP-4 inhibitors)

  • Hypoglycemia (more likely when used with insulin/sulfonylureas)

  • Allergic skin reactions or rash
