  • Description
  • Rating & Review

Dydrogesterone 10 mg tablets are used to treat conditions caused by progesterone deficiency or hormonal imbalances in women. Key indications include:

  • Menstrual Disorders: Regulates irregular menstrual cycles, treats heavy menstrual bleeding (menorrhagia), amenorrhea (absence of periods), and dysmenorrhea (painful periods).
  • Endometriosis: Manages symptoms such as pelvic pain by reducing the growth of endometrial tissue outside the uterus.
  • Female Infertility: Supports luteal phase deficiency and aids in preparing the uterine lining for embryo implantation, often used in assisted reproductive techniques like IVF.
  • Pregnancy Support: Prevents recurrent miscarriages and supports early pregnancy in women with a history of threatened or habitual abortions due to progesterone deficiency.
  • Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS): Alleviates physical and emotional symptoms like bloating, mood swings, and breast tenderness.
  • Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT): Used in combination with estrogens to manage menopausal symptoms and prevent endometrial hyperplasia in postmenopausal women.???????

Mechanism of Action

Dydrogesterone mimics the effects of natural progesterone by acting on progesterone receptors in the uterus. It promotes the development of a secretory endometrium, supports the maintenance of pregnancy, and regulates the shedding of the uterine lining. Unlike some progestins, it does not suppress ovulation or interfere with the corpus luteum at therapeutic doses, making it suitable for fertility and pregnancy support.

Dosage and Administration

  • Route: Oral (swallowed whole with water).
  • Timing: Can be taken with or without food, preferably at the same time daily for consistent blood levels.
  • Dosage: Varies by condition (always follow physician’s prescription):

    • Endometriosis: 10 mg two to three times daily from day 5 to 25 or continuously.
    • Infertility: 10 mg twice daily from day 14 to 25 of the cycle, continued for several cycles.
    • Threatened miscarriage: Initial dose of 40 mg, followed by 10 mg every 8 hours until symptoms resolve.
    • Habitual miscarriage: 10 mg daily until the 12th week of pregnancy.
    • HRT: 10 mg daily for 14 days per 28-day cycle, combined with estrogen. ??????
