It combines Dorzolamide Hydrochloride 2%, a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor, and Timolol 0.5%, a non-selective beta-blocker, to provide effective pressure reduction through two complementary mechanisms. Elevated eye pressure can gradually damage the optic nerve and may lead to permanent vision loss if left untreated. Dorzolamide decreases the production of aqueous humor (the fluid inside the eye), while Timolol further reduces fluid formation, helping maintain healthy eye pressure. Benzalkonium Chloride acts as a preservative that helps keep the solution free from microbial contamination. Regular use as prescribed helps slow the progression of glaucoma and protects vision. Continue using the eye drops even if you do not notice symptoms, as glaucoma often progresses silently. Regular eye examinations and intraocular pressure monitoring are essential for effective long-term management.
Dorzolamide Hydrochloride 2% and Timolol 0.5% work together to effectively lower elevated intraocular pressure, the main risk factor for glaucoma-related optic nerve damage. Dorzolamide is a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor that decreases aqueous humor production inside the eye by inhibiting carbonic anhydrase enzymes in the ciliary processes. Timolol is a non-selective beta-blocker that further reduces aqueous humor formation by blocking beta receptors in the ciliary body.
Their combined action provides greater pressure reduction than either medicine alone, helping slow the progression of glaucoma and preserving vision. Benzalkonium Chloride 0.0075% serves as an antimicrobial preservative that maintains the sterility of the eye drop solution during repeated use. Although it does not lower eye pressure, it helps prevent contamination of the bottle. Regular use, routine eye examinations, adherence to prescribed dosing, and timely monitoring of intraocular pressure are essential for protecting the optic nerve and reducing the risk of permanent vision loss.
AIt is used to treat open-angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension by lowering elevated pressure inside the eye.
AIt combines Dorzolamide, which reduces fluid production inside the eye, and Timolol, which further decreases fluid formation to lower intraocular pressure.
ARemove soft contact lenses before applying the drops and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting them because Benzalkonium Chloride may be absorbed by the lenses.
ANo. Continue using the medicine exactly as prescribed because glaucoma often has no noticeable symptoms, even when eye pressure remains high.
AApply it as soon as you remember. If it is nearly time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular schedule. Do not use extra drops.
ASeek urgent medical care if you experience difficulty breathing, chest pain, severe eye pain, sudden vision loss, swelling of the face or throat, or fainting.
