Falcigo 120mg Inj

Falcigo 120mg Inj is a parenteral antimalarial injection used in the emergency treatment of severe malaria, particularly cases caused by Plasmodium falciparum. It is a water-soluble hemisuccinate derivative of artemisinin, administered intravenously (IV) or intramuscularly (IM) for rapid action, especially in critically ill patients unable to tolerate oral medications.

This formulation is recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) as the first-line treatment for severe malaria across all age groups and in both adults and children. Artesunate acts quickly by inhibiting the growth and development of malaria parasites in the blood stage, rapidly reducing parasite load and mortality risk.

Each vial contains:

• Artesunate 120 mg, which is typically reconstituted with sodium bicarbonate and diluted with normal saline or 5% dextrose before administration.

It is often used in hospital or emergency settings where immediate antimalarial action is required. Artesunate significantly reduces malaria-related complications such as cerebral malaria, anemia, kidney failure, or death, especially when administered within the first few hours of diagnosis.
