It is used in the management of gout (common and complex form of arthritis that occurs when too much uric acid crystallises and deposits in the joints, resulting in sudden, severe attacks of pain, swelling, redness and tenderness in one or more joints, most often in the big toe). It is also used to manage accumulation of high blood levels of uric acid in the blood.
Before taking FEBUBOW 80 TABLET inform your doctor if you have any liver, kidney, heart, thyroid problems and undergoing management for Lesch-Nyhan syndrome. FEBUBOW 80 TABLET is not recommended for use by pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, children, and adolescents. FEBUBOW 80 TABLET should be used with caution by elderly patients.
The common side effects of taking FEBUBOW 80 TABLET are abnormal liver test results, diarrhoea, headache, rash, nausea, increase in gout symptoms, localized swelling due to retention of fluids in tissues (oedema). Consult your doctor immediately if any of your symptoms gets worse.
FEBUBOW 80 TABLET works by blocking the action of enzyme called xanthine oxidase, which is involved in the process of converting hypoxanthine into uric acid (purine metabolism pathway). This type of action reduces high uric acid level in gout and blood cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy management.
Take FEBUBOW 80 TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow FEBUBOW 80 TABLET with a glass of water and do not chew or crush the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight.
Stop taking FEBUBOW 80 TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
Nausea or vomiting:
Take FEBUBOW 80 TABLET with or just after meals. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oil rich or spicy foods. If the symptom does not improve, contact your doctor immediately.
Flatulence:
Eat smaller and more frequent meals. Eat and drink slowly, and exercise regularly. If the symptom does not improve, contact your doctor immediately.
Constipation:
Eat plenty of fiber rich foods such as fresh fruits, vegetables, and cereals and drink plenty of water. Exercise more regularly. If the symptom does not improve, contact your doctor immediately.
Diarrhoea:
Drink lots of fluids, such as water or fruit juice, to keep yourself hydrated. Do not consume any medicine on your own without consulting your doctor.
Stomach pain:
Try to rest and relax. Eat and drink slowly or try to have smaller and more frequent meals. Keep a heating pad on your stomach. If the symptom does not improve, contact your doctor immediately.
