Gardasil Vaccine

Gardasil is a vaccine that helps protect against cervical, vulvar, and vaginal cancers in women. It also helps prevent anal cancer and genital warts in both men and women. Gardasil is not recommended for use to treat these conditions which are caused by HPV infection.

Gardasil is a vaccine that protects you against HPV (human papilloma virus) types 6, 11, 16 and 18. Gardasil is approved to help protect women against six types of HPV which can cause cancer of the cervix and other parts of the body. It can also help protect men against certain types of genital warts caused by some HPV strains. The vaccine is given in two or three doses several months apart. Your doctor or nurse will make sure you get the right amount taken. If you do not have all the doses you need, this could mean that you are not protected against some of these severe infections and should see your GP immediately for an update on your vaccination course.

Gardasil is the first and only vaccine against human papillomavirus to be approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). It contains two types of virus strains, which help protect against two HPV types that can cause genital warts in women and cervical cancer in both women and men. Gardasil is approved under a special investigational new drug (IND) application by the FDA and is not approved for boys or men ages 9-26 others can cause cervical cancer.

Before getting Gardasil, the vaccine to prevent cervical cancer, make sure you talk to your doctor about any health condition that may be more likely to cause side effects. Also tell your doctor if you have ever fainted with a previous injection or if you have a weak immune system. Ask your doctor if it is safe to have this vaccine during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.

Gardasil Injection is a vaccine used to prevent diseases caused by human papillomavirus (HPV). The vaccine protects against four types of the virus: types 6, 11, 16 and 18. Gardasil is approved for use in Canada and the United States for females 9 through 26 years of age. The Gardasil is one of the most effective vaccines for preventing cancer caused by the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). Gardasil protects against nine common types of HPV that cause cervical cancers, as well as two additional high-risk types. The vaccine also helps protect against genital warts caused by other types of HPV, including some that cause precancerous abnormalities called dysplasias. Gardasil has been studied in clinical trials involving over 23,000 people around the world, including more than 10,000 women who received the vaccine before getting or planning to get any type of Pap test. Over 29 million doses were distributed globally and more than 98 percent were administered successfully.

Gardasil is available as a 3-dose series administered over 5 months as well as an immediate-release suspension. The 3-dose series provides protection against 90% of the strains that cause most cases of genital warts in girls and women younger than 26 years of age. In addition, the vaccine has been shown to protect against cancers of the vulva, vagina and penis that often develop in people with warts on their genitals more than 63 million doses have been distributed globally.

SIDE EFFECTS OF GARDASIL INJECTION

Gardasil is a vaccine against Human papillomavirus. Side effects that occur more often with Gardasil than expected have included fatigue, nausea/vomiting, headaches, muscle aches and soreness, dizziness and sleepiness. Rarely, side effects related to the injection site include bruising, swelling or redness in the area where you received the injection.
