Delivery within 1 or 2 daysImdur 30 mg Tablet is a prescription medicine that contains Isosorbide Mononitrate 30 mg, a long-acting nitrate used to prevent angina (chest pain) caused by coronary artery disease. It works by relaxing and widening blood vessels, allowing blood and oxygen to reach the heart more easily. This reduces the heart's workload and helps prevent episodes of chest pain during physical activity or emotional stress. Imdur is used to prevent angina attacks and is not intended to relieve sudden chest pain once it has started. For sudden angina attacks, your doctor may prescribe a fast-acting nitrate such as sublingual nitroglycerin.
Imdur 30 mg Tablet plays a vital role in the long-term prevention of angina (chest pain) by improving blood flow to the heart and reducing the heart's oxygen demand. Its active ingredient, Isosorbide Mononitrate, is a long-acting nitrate that is gradually converted into nitric oxide within the body. Nitric oxide relaxes the smooth muscles of blood vessels, causing them to widen (vasodilation).
The widening of the veins reduces the amount of blood returning to the heart (preload), which decreases the heart's workload. At the same time, mild widening of the arteries lowers the resistance against which the heart pumps (afterload). Together, these effects reduce the amount of oxygen the heart muscle needs to function.
By improving blood flow through the coronary arteries and lowering oxygen demand, Imdur helps prevent episodes of angina, especially during physical activity or emotional stress. It does not provide immediate relief from an angina attack that has already started because it works slowly over time. For sudden chest pain, a fast-acting nitrate prescribed by your doctor should be used instead.
Imdur is commonly prescribed for people with stable angina, coronary artery disease, and certain chronic heart conditions. To prevent the body from becoming tolerant to nitrates, doctors usually recommend a daily nitrate-free interval, during which the medicine is not active. This helps maintain its effectiveness over long-term use.
AIt is used to prevent angina (chest pain) caused by coronary artery disease. It is not used to treat an angina attack that has already begun.
ANo. Imdur is a preventive medicine and works slowly. For sudden chest pain, use the fast-acting medicine prescribed by your doctor and seek medical attention if the pain persists.
AHeadache is a common and expected side effect because the medicine widens blood vessels. It often becomes less noticeable after a few days of regular treatment.
ANo. Medicines such as sildenafil, tadalafil, or vardenafil must not be taken with Imdur because the combination can cause a life-threatening drop in blood pressure.
ATake the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and continue as normal. Do not take two doses together.
ANo. Continue taking Imdur exactly as prescribed. Stopping the medicine suddenly may increase the risk of angina attacks. Always consult your doctor before making any changes to your treatment.
