Ketofresh Shampoo 100ml

Ketofresh Shampoo contains Ketoconazole 2% w/v, a strong antifungal agent formulated in a cleansing shampoo base. It is designed to reduce flaking, itching, redness, and scalp irritation caused by fungal overgrowth. It is usually prescribed for moderate to severe dandruff or persistent scalp fungal conditions that do not respond to regular anti-dandruff shampoos.

Ketoconazole 2% w/v plays a central therapeutic role as a broad-spectrum antifungal agent in medicated shampoos like Ketofresh. Its primary function is to inhibit the growth and survival of fungi, especially Malassezia species, which are strongly linked to dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis. It works by blocking the fungal cytochrome P450 enzyme lanosterol 14-α-demethylase, which is essential for converting lanosterol into ergosterol a vital structural component of fungal cell membranes. Without ergosterol, the fungal cell membrane becomes weak, porous, and unstable, leading to leakage of cellular contents and eventual inhibition of fungal growth or cell death. Beyond its antifungal action, ketoconazole also has anti-inflammatory effects, helping reduce scalp redness, itching, and irritation by decreasing inflammatory mediators triggered by fungal activity.

In scalp conditions, this dual action fungal suppression plus inflammation control helps restore the normal balance of the scalp microbiome, reduce flaking, and prevent recurrence of dandruff when used appropriately.

Precaution
