Larinate 60mg Injection

Larinate 60mg Injection is a fast-acting, injectable antimalarial medication used primarily for the treatment of severe malaria, particularly cases caused by Plasmodium falciparum. This life-saving drug is an artemisinin derivative that is recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) as the first-line treatment for severe malaria in both adults and children.

Each vial contains 60 mg of artesunate powder, which must be reconstituted before administration. The injection is given intravenously (IV) or intramuscularly (IM) by a trained healthcare professional in a clinical or hospital setting. Artesunate works by rapidly reducing the number of malaria parasites in the bloodstream, leading to quick relief from symptoms and a lower risk of complications such as cerebral malaria, respiratory distress, and death.

Artesunate is especially important in situations where oral medications are not feasible due to the patient's condition (e.g., unconsciousness, vomiting, or critical illness). After the initial injectable treatment, patients are typically transitioned to a complete course of oral Artemisinin-based Combination Therapy (ACT) to fully clear the infection and prevent relapse.
