Lonopin 40 mg Injection contains Enoxaparin, a type of low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) used as an anticoagulant (blood thinner). It is primarily used to prevent and treat blood clots in veins (deep vein thrombosis, DVT), prevent clots from traveling to the lungs (pulmonary embolism, PE), and to reduce the risk of clotting after surgery or in patients with limited mobility. It is usually given as a subcutaneous injection (under the skin) in a healthcare setting or at home under medical guidance.

Enoxaparin, the active ingredient in Lonopin 40 mg, works by inhibiting clot formation in the blood. It enhances the activity of antithrombin III, a natural protein in the body that inactivates clotting factors, particularly Factor Xa and thrombin, which are essential for blood clot formation. By targeting these factors, Enoxaparin prevents existing clots from enlarging and reduces the risk of new clots forming. Unlike traditional heparin, Enoxaparin has a more predictable effect and a longer half-life, allowing for easier dosing and reduced need for frequent blood monitoring.

It is especially useful in patients after surgery, prolonged bed rest, heart attack, or certain types of cancers, where the risk of dangerous blood clots is high.
