Manforce 100mg Tab is a medication used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) in men. It helps achieve and maintain an erection sufficient for sexual activity by increasing blood flow to the penis. Sildenafil belongs to a class of drugs called phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors.

It is commonly prescribed to men who experience difficulty in getting or sustaining an erection due to conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, or age-related factors.

Sildenafil works by relaxing blood vessels in the penis and improving blood flow during sexual stimulation. Normally, sexual arousal causes the release of nitric oxide in the penis, which increases cyclic GMP (cGMP) levels, relaxing smooth muscles and allowing blood to fill the erectile tissues. PDE5 enzymes break down cGMP, limiting the duration of an erection. Sildenafil inhibits PDE5, which preserves cGMP levels, enhances blood flow, and helps maintain an erection during sexual activity. Unlike hormone therapy, Sildenafil does not directly increase sexual desire—it facilitates the physiological response to sexual stimulation.

• Peak effect: ~60–90 minutes
• Effective duration: ~4–6 hours
• Maximum effect: Requires sexual stimulation—it does not cause an automatic erection
• Food impact: High-fat meals can delay absorption, so taking it on an empty stomach may make it work faster.
• Alcohol: Excessive alcohol may reduce effectiveness and increase dizziness or flushing.
• Frequency: Should not be taken more than once in 24 hours.

Precaution

• Do not use if taking nitrates (for chest pain) or nitric oxide donors may cause dangerous drop in blood pressure.
• Consult your doctor if you have:

  • Liver or kidney disease
  • Retinal disorders (e.g., retinitis pigmentosa)
