Permimite 60ml Lotion

Permimite 60 ml Lotion is a prescription topical antiparasitic medicine containing Permethrin 5% w/v. It is primarily used for the treatment of scabies (mite infestation) and may also be prescribed for certain cases of lice infestation, depending on medical advice. Scabies is caused by the Sarcoptes scabiei mite, which burrows into the skin and causes intense itching, redness, and rashes. Permethrin effectively kills the mites and their eggs, helping eliminate the infestation and relieve symptoms. Although itching may continue for 2–4 weeks after successful treatment due to the body's allergic response to dead mites, this does not necessarily mean the treatment has failed. To prevent reinfestation, all close household contacts should be treated simultaneously, and clothing, bedding, and towels should be washed thoroughly after treatment.

Permimite Lotion contains Permethrin 5% w/v, a highly effective topical antiparasitic medication used to treat scabies by eliminating the mites responsible for the infestation. It acts directly on the parasite's nervous system by disrupting sodium channel function, causing paralysis and death of both adult mites and their eggs. This helps stop the life cycle of the parasite and prevents further spread of the infestation. As the mites are eliminated, symptoms such as intense itching, redness, rashes, and skin irritation gradually improve. However, itching may continue for several weeks after treatment because of the body's immune response to dead mites and their remnants.

Successful treatment also depends on proper application of the lotion, simultaneous treatment of close contacts, and thorough washing of clothing, towels, and bedding to avoid reinfestation. When used correctly under medical supervision, Permethrin is considered a first-line treatment for scabies due to its high effectiveness and favorable safety profile.

Precaution

• Use for external use only.
• Avoid contact with the eyes, nose, mouth, and other mucous membranes.
• Do not apply to broken, severely inflamed, or infected skin unless directed by your doctor.
• Inform your doctor if you are allergic to Permethrin, pyrethrins, chrysanthemums, or any ingredient in the lotion.
• Treat all close household members and sexual contacts simultaneously to prevent reinfestation.
• Continue good personal hygiene and wash clothing, towels, and bedding after treatment.
• Consult your doctor before use during pregnancy, breastfeeding, or in infants.
• Do not use more frequently than recommended.
