Rapither Ab 150mg/2ml Inj is a fast-acting antimalarial injectable formulation used in the treatment of severe malaria, especially Plasmodium falciparum infections that are resistant to conventional antimalarial drugs. It belongs to the artemisinin class of antimalarial agents, derived from the plant Artemisia annua, known for its potent schizonticidal activity.

Each ampoule contains 150 mg of Alpha Beta Arteether, a mixture of two stereoisomers — Alpha Arteether and Beta Arteether — both of which rapidly act on the blood schizonts of Plasmodium spp., effectively clearing parasites from the bloodstream. This injection is primarily indicated when oral therapy is not feasible or when rapid parasite clearance is required.

Mechanism of Action:

Alpha Beta Arteether acts by generating free radicals inside the parasite's food vacuole. These radicals damage the parasite's proteins and membranes, leading to rapid death of the parasite. It acts on the early and late stages of schizonts, ensuring fast parasite clearance and symptom resolution.

The injectable form is ideal in hospital or clinical settings, especially in moderate to severe cases of malaria, and must be used under strict medical supervision.
