Without this protective layer, the bacteria become weak and are destroyed by the body's immune system. Rifampicin works by inhibiting the bacterial DNA-dependent RNA polymerase, preventing the bacteria from producing proteins required for growth and multiplication. This action rapidly reduces the number of TB bacteria in the body.
Using these medicines together is essential because TB bacteria can quickly develop resistance if only one drug is used. The combination attacks the bacteria through different mechanisms, improving treatment effectiveness and reducing the risk of drug-resistant tuberculosis. Rcinex is commonly used with other anti-TB medicines, such as pyrazinamide and ethambutol, during the intensive phase of treatment.
