Segera Er 40mg Tablet

Segera ER 40 mg Tablet contains Febuxostat 40 mg, which is a urate-lowering medicine used mainly for the treatment of gout and hyperuricemia. It helps reduce high uric acid levels in the blood, thereby preventing gout attacks, joint pain, swelling, and long-term complications such as joint damage and kidney stones caused by uric acid crystals.

Febuxostat 40 mg acts as a potent and selective inhibitor of the xanthine oxidase enzyme, which plays a key role in purine metabolism. By blocking this enzyme, febuxostat reduces the conversion of hypoxanthine and xanthine into uric acid, thereby decreasing serum urate levels. This reduction helps prevent the crystallization of uric acid in joints and soft tissues, which is the main cause of gout inflammation and pain.

Over time, maintaining lower uric acid levels helps dissolve existing monosodium urate crystals, reduces frequency of gout flare-ups, and prevents long-term complications such as tophi formation, joint deformity, and kidney stone development.

Precaution
