Zovirax Iv

Zovirax Iv is a concentrated injectable antiviral solution used for the intravenous (IV) treatment of severe herpes virus infections, particularly in hospital or clinical settings. It is primarily indicated for patients who are unable to take oral medications or who require rapid, systemic antiviral action due to life-threatening or widespread viral infections.

This formulation is especially used in the management of:

• Severe primary genital herpes

• Herpes simplex encephalitis

• Neonatal herpes infections

• Herpes zoster (shingles) in immunocompromised patients

• Varicella (chickenpox) in high-risk adults

• Prophylaxis in bone marrow or organ transplant recipients

Zovirax Iv is supplied as a concentrated IV solution and must be diluted before administration. The drug works by inhibiting viral DNA polymerase, thereby halting the replication of the herpes virus. It is effective against HSV-1, HSV-2, and VZV.
