Abirapro 250mg Tablet is a prescription anti-cancer medication used primarily for the treatment of metastatic prostate cancer. It belongs to a class of drugs known as androgen biosynthesis inhibitors. Abiraterone works by selectively inhibiting CYP17A1, a key enzyme required for androgen (male hormone) production in the adrenal glands, testes, and prostate tumor tissue.

Reducing androgen levels slows the growth of prostate cancer cells, which rely on these hormones for survival and proliferation. Abiraterone is commonly prescribed in combination with prednisone or other corticosteroids to reduce the risk of certain side effects such as hypertension, low potassium, and fluid retention.

Indications include:

• Metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC)

• Metastatic high-risk castration-sensitive prostate cancer (mCSPC)
