Abirapro 500 Tab is a prescription anti-androgen cancer therapy used in the treatment of metastatic prostate cancer, including both castration-resistant (mCRPC) and castration-sensitive (mCSPC) forms. It is an androgen biosynthesis inhibitor that works by selectively blocking CYP17A1, a critical enzyme in the production of androgens (male hormones) from adrenal and testicular sources.

Prostate cancer cells rely on androgens like testosterone to grow and spread. By blocking androgen production, Abiraterone slows tumor progression, reduces prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels, and improves overall survival outcomes. It is most often prescribed in combination with low-dose prednisone or another corticosteroid to reduce the risk of side effects caused by hormone imbalance.

Each tablet contains 500 mg of Abiraterone Acetate, allowing for simplified dosing (2 tablets per day instead of four 250 mg tablets). This strength improves patient convenience and may support better treatment adherence.
