Duovir Tablet is a combination of two antiviral drugs, lamivudine and zidovudine. It is used to treat HIV infection. Lamivudine and zidovudine are both nucleoside analog reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs). They work by stopping the HIV virus from multiplying. Lamivudine and zidovudine are used to treat HIV infection in adults and children. They are also used to prevent HIV infection in adults and children who are at high risk of getting the virus.
HOW ZIDOVUDINE WORKS
Zidovudine is a medication that is used to prevent infection in those who have been exposed to HIV. This medication blocks the virus from multiplying and helps the immune system fight off the virus. Zidovudine is typically used as a part of a 3-drug regimen to both prevent and treat HIV. This medication is typically used as a treatment for people who have been exposed to HIV and are at high risk of contracting the virus.
SIDE EFFECTS OF ZIDOVUDINE
Zidovudine (AZT), also known as azidothymidine, is a medication that slows the progress of HIV by preventing the virus from multiplying in the body. Taken by mouth, AZT may also be used to prevent HIV infection after exposure.
HOW LAMIVUDINE WORKS
Lamivudine is an antiviral medication that is commonly used to treat hepatitis B infections. When the medication is taken, it prevents the hepatitis B virus from multiplying and becoming active in the body. This prevents the virus from infecting the liver and spreading throughout the body. Lamivudine is most often prescribed as a first-line treatment for hepatitis B.
SIDE EFFECTS OF LAMIVUDINE
his drug is not a cure for HIV, but is often used as a maintenance drug to keep HIV levels low. Side effects of Lamivudine are usually mild and include headaches, nausea, and dizziness. Other possible side effects include allergic reactions, dizziness, and insomnia.
